Tour Guide Marco Gaiotti Wildlife Photographer & Nature Explorer

Marco Gaiotti was born in 1983 in Genoa, Italy. By profession, he is a professor, while in the winter months, he works often as a ski instructor in northern Italy. Marco discovered his passion for wildlife photography almost by chance in 2007 when he encountered the wild landscapes of South Africa. Since then, he has explored some of the most extreme and remote regions of our planet every year and he has lived in Japan for over one year.

In 2009, Marco spent a month in Alaska, camping in the wilderness and observing untouched nature and breathtaking landscapes. This experience ignited his desire to take his passion for wildlife photography to a professional level. In the autumn of 2013, he joined an expedition to the Svalbard Islands, staying there for several days before the polar night set in. The results of this photographic adventure were of the highest quality, earning him recognition in major international publications, including a full spread feature in The Guardian.

In recent years, Marco’s photography style has evolved toward a more naturalistic approach. His images are a powerful fusion of wildlife and landscape, creating compositions rich in meaning—blurring the line between subject and environment.

Marco Gaiotti has rightfully won numerous prestigious awards in major international wildlife photography competitions, including SONY WPA (Open Shortlist), Nature’s Best, Windland Smith Rice International Awards, and Memorial Maria Luisa. He has also received accolades from Asferico, GDT European Photographer of the Year, Montphoto, Oasis, Glanzlichter, SIPA, Global Arctic Awards, and Nature Photographer of the Year.
