Benjamin Smail is a passionate wildlife videographer, photographer, and tour leader who finds great joy in expressing the stories of nature through his art. His work has received international recognition, most recently winning 1st place in the Urban Wildlife category at the 2025 World Nature Photography Awards. With several years of experience and extensive travels through South Africa, India, and The Gambia, Benjamin has developed a wealth of knowledge that he is delighted to share with fellow travellers on their wildlife adventures.

 

Benjamin’s journeys have taken him to incredible places, including a memorable two-month stint filming the short series The Gambia, reflecting his deep connection to this vibrant country. Passionate about capturing the untold stories of the natural world, Benjamin immerses himself in the beauty and complexity of wildlife and landscapes both abroad and closer to home. Back home, he enjoys photographing wildlife alongside his dog Bo, with a particular passion for red foxes and woodpeckers. He loves to experiment creatively with his photography, embracing unique techniques and stepping beyond conventional rules to create more expressive and compelling images.
